AR-10 Upper
An assembled large-frame upper containing the upper receiver,
barrel, handguard, gas system and related components. The
exact barrel, handguard, muzzle device and other components
vary by configuration.
Complete AR-10 Upper
At Ballistic Barn, a complete AR-10 upper includes the
assembled upper along with both a compatible
bolt carrier group (BCG) and charging handle.
Configurations without both of those components are not
labeled complete uppers on our site.
AR-10 Upper Assembly
A large-frame upper built with the major components of the
assembly, including the upper receiver, barrel, gas system
and handguard. An upper assembly does not necessarily include
a BCG or charging handle. Check the individual product
listing for included parts.
Barreled Upper
An upper assembly built around an upper receiver with a
barrel installed and typically additional components such as
the gas system, handguard and muzzle device. The term does
not automatically indicate that a BCG or charging handle is
included.
AR Upper Receiver
The individual receiver component that serves as the
foundation of an upper build. A standalone upper receiver is
distinct from the assembled AR-10 uppers sold on this page
because it does not include the barrel, handguard, gas
system and other major components that make up an assembled
upper.
Stripped Upper Receiver
The receiver body without the barrel, handguard or other
major upper components installed. Receiver pattern and
dimensions should be confirmed when selecting compatible
large-frame components.
Assembled Upper Receiver
An upper receiver with certain receiver-specific components
already installed, depending on the product. An assembled
upper receiver remains a standalone receiver component and
is not the same product as an assembled or complete AR-10
upper.
LR-308 / DPMS-Pattern
LR-308 and DPMS-pattern are commonly used terms for
large-frame receiver systems. Component dimensions and
relationships can vary among large-frame patterns, so
compatibility should be confirmed for the specific receiver
and components being used.
Large-Frame AR Upper
A broad descriptive term for assembled uppers designed
around large-frame AR receiver systems and compatible
cartridges, distinguishing them from smaller AR-15-pattern
